Ein halbes Jahr nach ihrem zweiten Album erscheint nun mit “The Sirens Sound” die nächste Veröffenlichung von Collapse Under The Empire. In 5 Songs, mit einer Länge von insgesamt 35 Spielminuten, erschaffen Collapse Under The Empire ihren eigenen Klangkosmos, zwischen bescheidenen Minimalismus mit fragilen, instrumentalen Passagen und voller, offensiver Opulenz. “The Sirens Sound” ist eine ungewisse Reise durch Instrumentalwelten. Der Song “Grade Separation” wurde am 16.04.10 vorab als Single veröffentlicht.
Sound:
Es wäre etwas zu kurz gegriffen, den Sound von Collapse Under The Empire nur Post Rock zu nennen. Dazu haben die Arrangements einen zu soundtrackhaften Charakter, wie man ihn vielleicht sonst höchstens von Soundtrackmeister wie John Murphy oder Clint Mansell kennt. Mit ihren Instrumentals lassen Collapse Under The Empire die Gitarren eine Geschichte erzählen, dabei ist am markantesten, dass sie gerne auch wirkungsvolle elektronische Klänge einbauen.

Bio:
Chris Burda und Matthew Jason fanden sich erstmals im Sommer 2007 in Hamburg zusammen, um gemeinsam aus instrumentalen Strukturen Songs zu entwickeln. Unter dem Namen Collapse Under The Empire werden im Sommer 2008 vier Songs für die erste EP “Paintball” veröffentlicht. Anschließend entstanden ihre selbstproduzierten Alben “Systembreakdown” (Feb. 2009) und “Find A Place To Be Safe” (Nov. 2009).
Collapse Under The Empire haben innerhalb kürzester Zeit international auf sich Aufmerksam gemacht. Magazine wie z.B. Q-Magazine oder Rocksound zeigten sich begeistert vom cinematischen Sound des Duos. Das englische Magazine Shakenstir hat “Find A Place To Be Safe” als eine der besten Platten des Jahres 2009 ausgezeichnet. Mit ihrer Single “Crawling” sind sie u.a. auf der Compilation “And The Post Rock Underground” (Jan.2010) des englischen Magazins Strangeglue, vertreten.

Collapse Under The Empire, a duo whose second album, Find A Place To Be Safe is apparently inspired by a black Orwellian view of the future. Entirely instrumental, we’ll have to take their word for that. As for the music, it’s a mature piece of cinematic post-rock sound scaping with the emphasis thankfully on melody not noodling.

The 11 songs here are actually imbued with a sense of positivity and rebirth amid any suggestions of ruination. 'Find A Place To Be Safe' is a sumptuous aural treat for fans of the genre.

....it socked us so hard we can’t recognize its towering levels of awesome. Yes it’s post-rock but it embodies the genre without pretention or artsy flourishes, only sheer brute strength and thundering intensity. They don’t beat around the bush - both their band name and album title imply a bloody dystopia, an apocalyptic reckoning that will be as gorgeous as it is inevitable.

Nice sound and one of the most acceptable post-rock albums of the year. After all these replicas and really boring releases of the last years in the genre of post-rock and other instrumental music branches , this album is an exception. I can say, even if they don’t have vocals, that this band can touch inside of you. I don’t know but I think that these guys and “God is an Astronaut” are different, and they are years in front of the others in post-rock music style.

“SYSTEMBREAKDOWN” is their self-released debut album and is a carefully assembled collection of pieces that illustrate their virtuosity incredibly well. From ethereal melodies to swamping magnum opus grandeur, they are clearly a capable couple of guys. If you are an aficionado of “Mogwai” then you will fall in love with “CUTE” too.
